LGSL at a glance…..
| Mission and Goals:
Our mission is to provide organized slowpitch softball for young women in
our community. Our goals are for young women to: develop lifelong physical,
social, mental, sportswomanship, and leadership abilities; experience the
joy that comes from both individual effort and team work; and learn to balance
performance results, enjoyment, and learning in all pursuits.
Founded: Founded in 1973, LGSL became a Type A not-for-profit corporation in 1993. Number of Participants: In 2002, 447 girls participated on 36 teams, along with 6 all star teams that competed with other Syracuse area teams. Each team typically has a manager and several assistants. Area Served: LGSL serves a significant portion of the Liverpool Central School District, the Village of Liverpool, and the Town of Salina. Typically, participants are from Chestnut Hill, Donlin Drive, Liverpool, Longbranch, and Nate Perry Elementary Schools; Liverpool and Chestnut Hill Middle Schools; and Liverpool High School. League Administration: A volunteer board, which elects its executive officers and appoints others, oversees all league operations. The board meets monthly September through July with additional meetings to address specific events / issues. Involvement in board activities is readily open to all league parents on a self-nominating basis. Operating Costs:
Sponsorship fees, participant registration fees, and donations are used to
meet Communication and Publicity: League information is printed regularly in area newspapers, mailed directly to participants, distributed in schools and through coaches. LGSL's is on the web at: www.lgsl.org A Field of Our Own: Beginning
in 1997, LGSL started play and practice at its home field complex at the
Town of Salina’s Electronics Park and at fields provided by the Liverpool

| Major 2001 Events / Dates:
Registration: Sat. Feb. 8th 1 to 3 pm; Mon. Feb. 17th 6 pm - 8 pm. Liverpool Public Library. Parents /Coaches Orientation: Wednesday, April 2nd 7 - 9 pm. Required for all managers and coaches. Season begins Week of April 7th. Opening Day/ All Stars Break Events (Photo Day): Saturday, May 31st, Electronics Park Complex Games and photos scheduled throughout the day. RAIN DATE: SUNDAY June 1st End-of-year Division Awards Ceremonies: TBA - contact division coordinator |
